Want to try the pottery wheel? Get your hands dirty in this four week short course. Class meets 2 hours per week for a 4-week mini session. Great for beginners and people who have some pottery experience! Includes - *clay, glazing, and firing for up to 4/5 finished pieces up to 6in in length. Choose your favorites, and recycle the rest! Students will learn to make small to medium vessels from 1-3 lbs each. Focus will be on quality vs. quantity and class will incorporate surface treatment, glazing methods, attachments and more as time allows. *Class includes clay for projects made in class, bisque firing, over 50 glazes, and glaze firings for initial pots as mentioned above and use of all studio tools. An orientation and class description will be discussed on the first night. You must attend the first night to continue. There are no make ups for missed classes. This is an educational class where the focus is on learning and development of wheel throwing skills and techniques. This is NOT an open studio environment, and participants are expected to follow along with the class syllabus. The focus is on building skills each week, increasing difficulty and technical skill, surface treatments and texture, handles and attachments and finishing and smoothing, working toward independent projects which will be offered in different class or open studio environment. What's covered? Centering, opening and raising walls to create small functional bowls, cups, and vases. Trimming, Handles & Attachments as time allows Brush glazing and underglazes. We are a mid-fire stoneware studio. Please no long fingernails. Wear closed toe shoes, no crocs or sandals. Long hair must be tied up. Adults 18 and up. Please see policies for full details
